So as embarrassing as this is I have to share. Doing P90x for the first time last night. I had seen on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEKYXzmdNNg a great way to use your resistance bands over the door for the pull up reps. All I can say is, guess who forgot to lock the door. So in the middle of a rep pulling and stretching the resistance band, my daughter comes running into my bedroom. After 5 minutes of laying on the floor and telling her it was not her fault, I finally got up and continued. So today at work I get to explain why I have a gigantic red mark on my forehead in the shape of a roll of ductape.
Lesson learned, I will lock the door when doing these excercises.

So I officially started P90x tonight. It is everything I read about. Tough and very challenging. With my size, I came no where close to keeping up with them. I did as many push ups as possible and switched to doing them on my knees. Did these until I couldn't do any more. I poured sweat the entire time and felt in the end I pushed myself as hard as physically possible. I have the same natural high anyone gets when starting something new and I hope it continues.
For that are doing P90x and reading this. What do you do when it's physically not possible to get a workout in. I know it's early but I'm already worried that I will miss day 6. Not sure I can double up on a workout at this point so I will probably just continue on the following day.
Not unlike a lot of stories, I was an athlete in Highschool. I ate like crazy and stayed in relatively good shape. Started college and didn't have the skills to continue in athletics. Quickly gained weight and never looked back. First serious attempt at weight loss was two years ago. I had gotten to 350lbs. I started working out 3 times a week, cut my eating to 1200 calories a day and in less than six months was down to 270lbs. It became routine. I slept better. I took less medication for acid reflux. I had more energy.
To this day I can't figure out why I stopped. I can't look at any one thing and say that is what screwed me up. As of 6 weeks ago I was up to an alltime high of 386. I am back to working out 2-3 times a week and have dropped down to 357. I have cut my calories down to roughly 1800. I am not good with logging food ect, I simply do a rough calculation.
This blog will hopefully journal my 90 days with the P90x program. I am already getting bored with the treadmill and weights, so this should be interesting. I have read that with my weight I should not start with this program, but I like to push myself. My goal is to push myself each workout until I can't go any further. So I can only do 5 pushups right now. I will do 5 and then I will do more on my knees. I have to start somewhere. My goal is to get back to 270 from 386 in one year. My final goal is 220 on my 6'4 frame, but that is a long ways off. For know, I have stayed motivated by continuing to lose each week whether it is one pound or eight.
